Cobra CWR200 Weather Radio Offers 'Tornado Mode'

by Fox Van Allen on April 22, 2014

Cobra Weather Radio If you live in a tornado zone, a flash flooding area or anywhere else prone to extreme weather, you know how important timely weather alerts can be. Disasters can happen at the blink of an eye, and without a solid NOAA All-Hazards emergency weather radio, your family might not be able to react to extreme weather in time.

The new Cobra CWR200 offers access to 10 NOAA weather channels, a color-coded LED alert level warning light, an emergency flashlight and Specific Area Message Encoding (S.A.M.E.) technology that filters out reports that are not relevant for your immediate area. The device is powered by a set of AA NiMH rechargeable batteries (included) that can be recharged via a micro-USB charger in case a storm takes out your electricity.

One of the best features of the CWR200 is its Tornado Mode button. For those that live in areas with a lot of weather alerts, pressing it silences all alerts except for the most crucial of emergency information. That way, you can enjoy a quiet family evening but still be protected in the event of an unexpected extreme weather event.

The Cobra CWR200 is available now at Amazon.com for $39.95. For more smart ways to stay prepared in emergencies, check out these 3 must-have tornado apps and our favorite emergency tech must-haves.
