Jenn-Air Wall Ovens Save You Time in the Kitchen

by Lisa Milbrand on January 28, 2010

Jenn-Air’s newest line of wall ovens offers several state-of-the-art features that can help even the least adept chefs pull off a perfect meal. Here’s a rundown of the bells and whistles:

  • Jenn-Air oven interiorNo preheat start: An industry first, Jenn-Air's 6,800-watt V2 Vertical Dual-Fan Convection System instantly heats to the correct temperature, so you can get dinner on the table 15 minutes faster. Consider this a gift to all those last-minute meal makers.
  • Jenn-Air ovenLCD touchscreen control panel: Jenn-Air subbed the usual dials and buttons for a 7-inch touchscreen, which makes it easy to not only choose the temperature (via a slider on the screen), but also to choose the degree of doneness of your meat dishes with full-color photos. Using the included meat thermometer, the oven monitors your roast, so it won’t cook beyond your selected medium-rare if you get distracted.
  • Customizable settings for food types: The oven offers special settings for frozen pizza, pastry, roasting and baking to allow each type of food to cook perfectly. You can even program your own recipes into the stove’s Culinary Center, so that macaroni and cheese recipe that requires a quick broil at the end is available with a simple touch or two.
  • Convection conversion calculator translates regular recipes: The convection oven adjusts the temperature and airflow for baking, pastries, roasts and broiling. For instance when you put in a leg of lamb to roast, the oven will automatically alert you when 75 percent of the usual cooking time has elpased, so you can check for doneness.

Jenn-Air’s new ranges cost $1,899 - $4,899 (depending on whether it's a single or double and the type of finish–black, stainless steel or oiled bronze) and are available at Sears and regional retailers.
