The Amazon App Store is offering Angry Birds Star Wars II
for free this holiday, along with other great premium apps.
A recent study by Deloitte (PDF) suggests that 34% of Americans are giving tech gifts this year. And if you have kids or teens on your shopping list, you already know: Smartphone and tablets are hot items this year. These new devices can be expensive, but this year, filling them with great entertainment and educational content won’t break the bank. Both Amazon (Android) and Apple (iOS) are offering great premium paid apps for free this holiday season, with a new app being offered every day.
The apps being offered for free by Amazon this holiday via the Amazon App Store include:
December 23: Draw a Stickman: EPIC
December 24: Piano Master Christmas Special
December 25: Angry Birds Star Wars II; Free App of the Day Welcome Pack (includes: My Alarm Clock, Handrite Notes Notepad Pro, Stellarium Mobile Sky Map, Relax Melodies Premium: A White Noise Ambience For Sleep, Meditation & Yoga, SPC Music Sketchpad 2, PrinterShare Mobile Print, Moon Phase Pro)
December 26: Where’s My Perry?; Free App of the Day Favorites (includes: Daily Ab Workout, The Lost City, Voxel Invaders, Chimpact, Osmos HD, Fraction Calculator Plus, Ultimate Hangman HD, From Cheese and Business Calendar)

December 28: Doodle Farm
Android owners get a nice added present from Amazon: From December 24 to December 28, anyone who downloads a game or app to his or her Android device using the Amazon App Store will receive a $5 credit towards future downloads as a bonus.
There’s no word yet exactly what apps Apple will be offering for free until the company’s promotion starts on December 26. Judging from similar promotions in the past, you can expect Apple’s freebies to be quality games, lifestyle and productivity apps you or your kids will actually want.
The Amazon App Store app is a free download for Android smartphone and tablets; Apple’s 12 Days of Gifts app is a free download via iTunes.
