Snap by Groupon appIf you’re always looking for ways to save on your household grocery bills, Groupon may be able to help. The company that made its name through daily deals has unveiled a new grocery rewards app called Snap. It works with every supermarket and promises to put cash in your pockets just for shopping – not gift cards like other rewards apps, but actual cold, hard cash.

Groupon’s new Snap app is fairly easy to use. Prior to hitting your favorite store, open the Snap app and review your weekly coupon-like offers. Currently, Snap is offering deals like $1.00 cash back on 2 Clorox products, $1.00 cash back on Country Crock and $1.00 back on any gallon of milk. You can use the app to add offers to your shopping list if you’d like. Once purchased, you upload the receipt to your phone using its camera. Receipts are processed in about 48 hours.

Because Snap works with any store (including drug stores and big box retailers like Walmart), you can easily combine its savings with your real-world coupons, the best weekly sales and even the offers on your local supermarket’s app to truly make the most of your grocery budget. Once you’ve racked up $20 in cash back awards, Groupon Snap will send you a check. It’s just that easy.

Snap is Groupon’s second major attempt this year at entering the home grocery market. In May, Groupon unveiled its Groupon Basics site, which offers discounts on warehouse-store-sized quantities of non-perishable goods like soap and cough syrup. Prices on Groupon Basics are good, but there are better deals elsewhere online. No doubt, Groupon Snap is far more appealing.

You can find the free Groupon Snap app for iOS on the Apple App Store and for Android on Google Play. If you want to learn more, you can visit the Groupon Snap website or check out the short promotional video below. And to earn even more money while shopping, check out the Shopkick app too – it was recently featured on Techlicious’s own 3 Apps that Actually Pay You Money and 10 Apps & Sites that Will Save You Money articles.

I got the app and went and purchased a large amount of items that had an unlimited rebate. Left the store scanned the receipt in my car and I got a “Sorry this has expired”. At least with the Ibbota app they tell you when they expire. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks! It shows as “All Gone” now on my app. While there’s no personal limit on redemption, Groupon must have a limit with the manufacturer. I’ll look into that.

My grocery receipts are LONG!!  Although my purchases are legitimate, they keep getting rejected.  I have a 12MB camera (top of the line) and I still can’t get a LONG receipt captured with my camera and accepted by Groupon.
