About the Lenovo Z560

Lenovo z560The Lenovo IdeaPad Z560 laptop (MSRP $849) uses Dolby Advanced Audio technology to provide great sound for your dorm room or home office. And Dolby is giving away this great laptop to one of our email subscribers!

PCs have never been known for delivering a great audio experience. Yet, Dolby Advanced Audio changes all that, restoring the realism of the original soundtrack, whether for movies, music or games. So you experience every detail exactly as it was intended to sound.

How does Dolby do it?

  • Audio Optimization dramatically improves laptop sound quality by compensating for response irregularities in the speakers built into your laptop
  • Dolby Headphone enables a great surround sound experience and works with any set of headphones, putting the user in the middle of the action.
  • Natural Bass and High Frequency Enhancer delivers sound that's more realistic and more dramatic than ever before.

According to research released today by Dolby, approximately 60 percent of surveyed college students are now using their PCs more than televisions for entertainment. In fact, the majority of students believe PCs deliver the best overall entertainment experience and, as a result, expect higher-quality audio. In addition, 64 percent watch entertainment on their computers with others, so great audio is critical when considering a back-to-school laptop!

The Lenovo IdeaPad Z560 includes an Intel Core i3 Processor, Intel HD Graphics, 15.6" HD Display, 3 GB Memory and a 500GB Hard Drive.

Official Rules

We will randomly select one (1) winner from the entries. No purchase is necessary to win. Maximum of one entry per person. The giveaway will end at 11:59pm on August 31st, 2010.  Void where prohibited. U.S. residents only. Click here for the full rules.

I use my laptop in

From Bob M on August 16, 2010 :: 4:22 pm

I use my laptop in the music room for playing back and learning new music.  For this, my external speakers are OK - not great, but OK.

Where I could REALLY use superior audio is in setting up both a laptop and a desktop as digital audio workstations for recording.

Honestly -- and rather sadly,

From Abigail Perry on August 16, 2010 :: 6:19 pm

Honestly—and rather sadly, I admit—it would help me hear the “ping!” from my Outlook alarms going off. I have no memory these days and have had to set alarms twice a day to remember to take my pills. And, since that’s going so well, I fear I will be overloading the poor program with appointments, to-dos, etc.

But you can’t hear the thing from more than a few feet away. Maybe some good speakers will help.

Well, that and I work from home. So it’d be nice to have decent speakers to blast out some music to get myself revved up.

I am a college student

From Hope W. on August 18, 2010 :: 7:41 pm

I am a college student with degenerative hearing loss. Currently it’s at the 30% mark, which vastly affects me in school. I have a recorder that I use to record my class lectures, then save to my laptop so that I’m able to listen to them at home. My current computer lacks sharpness in it’s sound quality and makes listening and understanding my lectures difficult. Clearer, crisper sound would improve my life by making school easier, so that I can recieve top grades and make something worthwhile out of my life. Thank you.

A computer with better audio

From S. Magee on August 19, 2010 :: 1:08 pm

A computer with better audio would be very beneficial because I’m in a class where it requires us to sometimes create videos. We always have make sure everything is proper order, but most of the time the sound is very off from what is actually going on in the video. That situation presents a problem for when we have to present it to others. In other words, better audio would actually help me get a better grade in my classes and improve my education.

As an educator better audio

From Hugo De La Rosa on August 19, 2010 :: 4:36 pm

As an educator better audio on my laptop would make it easier for my kids to listen to songs I use for lessons or as background music. As a parent, better audio means easier-to-hear presentations made by my child or made by me for family members. As a gamer (WOW ftw!) better audio means I can finally play WOW in all it’s beautiful audio glory! smile

Blessings & Peace,
