Who doesn't appreciate the time and effort put into making a meal for that special someone? But even if you aren't an Alton Brown-devotee, there are plenty of food apps to provide inspiration and step-by-step instructions.

Foodie Recipes

The wonderful thing about Foodie is how its updated throughout the year to constantly offer seasonally inspired recipes. And, of course, Valentine's is no exception. Like the sound of cauliflower soup with shaved truffles, for an appetizer, followed by mustard-crusted chicken with a butternut squash risotto, for the main course, and then wine poached pears, for dessert? This app allows you to pick a gift for someone from any store or online shop and send a notification immediately to your loved one. They then choose how they want to receive the gifted funds (credit card or PayPay.) Then when when they go to buy the item or service gifted, the amount of the purchase is immediately credited to their card or PayPal account.

Etsy is the ecommerce site for handmade crafts and independent designers, with more than 17 million unique items ranging from eclectic to seasonal to quirky. Vintage lingerie? Check. Heart-shaped jewelry? Check. Even hand-stitched leather wallets for him. And don't forget, you have the option of sending an Etsy gift card electronically.

Home Depot

Yep, Home Depot has an app and nothing says love like new power tools. Use it to search for what's in stock and then you can have a nearby store hold it for pick up before the 14th. And if you're really desperate, you can always use it to send an eGift card instantly to your loved one's inbox.

Where's My Valentine?

If you or your loved one is a fan of Disney's Where's My Water? or Where's My Perry? series of puzzle apps, then you're really going to love Where's My Valentine? Swampy and Perry team up in 12 new love-themed levels that you can solve together.

The Love Tangram

This Valentine's-themed tangram puzzle will delight the young and, ahem, not so young alike. A tangram puzzle, for the uninitiated, challenges you to arrange a number of shaped blocks into a pattern, usually an animal. In this case, you are moving around the oddly-shaped blocks into a shape of a heart and other shapes.
