The PS Vita handheld video game device has been a hot item for gamers since it launched in February. And while the controls and many of the PS Vita games are aimed at the 10+ crowd, families with younger siblings may be looking for games that are more appropriate to expose younger kids to . . . especially when kids tend to huddle around the gaming device to watch and help each other play.

Here’s some of the best PS Vita games for kids that serve as good starter games for the device.

You can customize your kart, your racer, and even your racetrack using the back touch pad or dragging and dropping parts on the front touch screen. Frobisher Says are fun mini games that are designed to get you more acquainted with the controls of the PS Vita. Frobisher gives you tasks that use different controls and buttons - each using individual aspects like the touch screens located on the front or back of the device, the mini joysticks, the front and back facing camera, or a combination of actions that you'll likely encounter when playing different games on the PS Vita. Each game lasts around a minute or less, and is designed as a fun and fast-paced way to presumably learn how to get the most out of the PS Vita and have the most fun. Frobisher Says will be available on the PlayStation Network in May.

Little DeviantsLittle Deviants

Little Deviants are an odd bunch of creatures that you set off onto an adventure across 30 mini arcade games. At its core, Little Deviants is designed to let the user take advantage of all the great functionality that the PS Vita. Each game allows you to use and gain familiarity with the different gaming control features, from the front/back touch screen, gyroscopic motion sensor, augmented reality, to the front and rear camera or microphone. Need a break or just want to share the fun? You can pass the game along in multi-player mode to up to eight of your friends. Little Deviants is ESRB rated E and  available now for $29.99 on Amazon.com.
