Samsung Smart Washer and Dryer Cleans Two Loads at Once

by Elizabeth Harper on January 04, 2017

Samsung FlexWash + FlexDry washer and dryer

It may finally be time to upgrade your old washer and dryer, because Samsung's new FlexWash + FlexDry laundry system will make every laundry day easier. This washer and dryer duo can do the job of two washers and two dryers. Each unit is capable of handling two loads at once. It's like having two washers and two dryers in your laundry room, without taking up the additional space. Because most of us do more than one load of laundry a week, typically separating clothes by color and fabric type, this could be a real time-saver.

Here's how it works: each machine has two laundry compartments designed to tackle different washing tasks. The FlexWash is a front-loader with a huge five-cubic-foot capacity that can handle bulky loads or just the week's regular washing. A smaller top-loading compartment measuring just one cubic foot is ideal for small loads or delicates. Both compartments can run at the same time on different settings, so you can get through your laundry basket faster. The SuperSpeed feature lets you cut wash time in half (depending on the type of load) for an even quicker laundry day.

FlexDry works the same way. There's a large front-loading compartment plus a Delicates Rack at the top for more delicate items. The Delicates Rack doesn't tumble clothing; instead, it dries using a steady flow of warm air (between room temperature and 95 degrees Fahrenheit) that's as gentle as laying clothes out on a drying rack — but a lot faster. MultiSteam technology in the main drying compartment can rid your clothes of winkles, bacteria and odors for an all-new level of clean.

Both machines are smart, too. Control them from anywhere with the Samsung Smart Home app (for Android and iOS). You can start and stop either machine and monitor the current cycle's process—though, unfortunately, these machines still won't fold your clothes for you.

There's no price or release date just yet, but we're already looking forward to the time we'll save by waiting on one less load of laundry every week.
