Short dramas – those bite-sized, cliffhanger-heavy episodes built for a phone screen – have become one of the fastest-growing forms of entertainment online. The catch is that making one has mostly remained out of reach for regular people. You need a script that holds together, someone who knows how to plan a shoot, and editing chops most of us have never learned. Meantio, a new AI-native short drama app that just launched on iOS, levels the playing field.
The app supports both creators and consumers. As a viewer, you get a free library of short dramas spanning genres like werewolf romance, billionaire drama, campus life, revenge plots, and family sagas, with new episodes landing regularly. Titles already on the platform range from the psychological thriller Light's Out: Who's Out, where an engagement party gets trapped by an AI running a deadly elimination game, to the campy action-romance The IT Girl's Secret Bodyguard, about a CIA agent going undercover as a college freshman. You can browse the catalog without an account, though you'll need to sign up to save your watch history or follow creators.
As a creator, Meantio functions as a full production studio that lives entirely on your phone. Describe a story idea in plain language, and the AI turns it into a script and a shot-by-shot storyboard. From there, the app guides the actual filming, suggesting scene setups and framing so your footage flows naturally. A built-in editing suite for trimming, music, and polish is scheduled to arrive this fall, at which point the whole process, from a one-line idea to a finished episode, will happen inside the app.
Getting started is easy once you’ve downloaded the app and created a free account. Write your script with the AI tool, shoot with the guided prompts, and then edit and upload. Keep posting to build a channel.

Discovery on Meantio runs through what the platform calls the Seed Creator Program, and visibility comes from storytelling quality. Selected creators get dedicated traffic support, one-on-one mentorship, and access to brand partnerships and custom IP development deals. Meantio also publishes its revenue-share terms and platform policies openly, so creators can see exactly how their work gets promoted and paid before they commit to building a channel there.
Ad revenue splits pay creators up to 60%. Episode sales, where a creator sets their own per-episode price, pay up to 85%. Channel memberships, essentially a subscription tier fans pay into directly, also pay up to 85%. Meantio says actual shares vary by creator tier and content quality, but those ceilings put it well above what creators typically see on ad-supported platforms elsewhere. Creators also keep ownership of what they make. Uploading grants Meantio a license to host and promote the content, not a transfer of rights.

There's also a social layer built around the content itself. Creators can message fans directly, and viewers can post reactions, theories, and hot takes on individual episodes.
Meantio doesn't replace good storytelling instincts. The AI can generate a script and storyboard, but a compelling short drama still lives or dies on pacing, character development, and a hook that makes someone tap through to episode two. What Meantio removes is the technical wall that's kept a lot of people with good story ideas from ever starting: the software, the equipment, the editing timeline that used to eat a weekend.
Meantio is available now on the App Store for iOS, with an Android version in development for a broader global rollout. You can browse the full library, watch sample episodes, and read the Seed Creator Program terms at meantio.com.
