Unboxing the G-Technology brand ArmorATD portable hard drive

by Andrea Smith on September 25, 2019

Whether you use a Mac or a PC, a tablet or a smartphone, one thing is certain; you always need to back up your files. You never know when your computer may suffer a crash or get damaged and that’s not the time to start wondering if you’ve saved copies of your data.

Portable external hard drives are an excellent choice for portable back-up. Not only will an external drive back up your content; files, music, videos, photos, etc., it can assist with transferring those files to another device. Depending on what capacity drive you get, it can act as an extra storage device as well.

We took a look at Western Digital’s G-Technology brand ArmorATD portable hard drive. It’s stylish and compact, and rugged enough to be tossed in a canvas bag or backpack without worry.

While it’s a great solution at home or at school, this a drive built for users who want to take their content on the go. Photographers and videographers seeking to protect their photo, video and audio files won’t be disappointed with the durability of this drive.

ArmorATD features triple-layer shock protection; a strong metal design, rubberized bumper, and internal shock mounts for an extra layer of shock-resistance. That makes it great for travel and adventure. It can withstand an accidental drop, dust, sand, rain and up to 1,000 lbs. of pressure.

There’s support for Thunderbolt 3 with an included USB-C to USB-A adapter for USB 3.0 compatibility. And if you have a laptop with Thunderbolt 2, you can purchase an adapter for compatibility. However, you won’t enjoy Thunderbolt 3 transfer speeds.

The ArmorATD portable hard drive comes in capacities up to 5 terabytes, has super-fast speeds, (with transfer rates up to 140MB/s for the 1TB and 2TB drives and up to 135MB/s for the 4TB drive) is portable and reliable. Watch our unboxing video or head over to G-Technology.com, for more info.
