Apple's AirTag has been the default answer to "how do I stop losing this" since it launched. The second-generation redesign fixes the one flaw that made the original frustrating at the exact moment you needed it most: it was too quiet to find once it got buried at the bottom of a bag or under a couch cushion.
The Gen 2 upgrades all target the same complaint: making the tracker easier to find once it's out of sight. The new speaker is 50 percent louder, with a sharper chime that cuts through the sound of everyday life. An upgraded Ultra Wideband chip stretches Precision Finding on iPhone to nearly 50 feet, working through walls and closed doors, and Apple Watch owners get that same step-by-step guidance for the first time. None of it requires a subscription or a new app: it plugs into the Find My network already running on every iPhone.
Amazon just knocked down the price on a four-pack of these new tags to $79.99, 19% off its $99 list price and the lowest price we've seen since we started tracking it.
The four-pack makes sense for anyone who has multiple things they need to keep track of (and who doesn't?). A backpack headed back to school, a suitcase before a trip, keys that disappear into the couch weekly: all covered at $20 per tracker. The battery runs more than a year on a standard, user-replaceable cell, so there's no charging cable or dock to add to the pile.
