Want a Nintendo Switch 2? Better buy it before September 1st

Nintendo Switch 2 Choose Your Game bundle box

Nintendo is raising the U.S. price of the Switch 2 console from $449.99 to $499.99, starting September 1st. That $50 jump applies to every configuration sold in the US.

Nintendo's announcement points to "changes in market conditions" and the company's "global business outlook" as the reasons behind the increase, without naming a cause. However, increases in demand for RAM chips for AI infrastructure has driven up pricing across the board for tech products. The company already raised Switch 2 pricing in Japan in May, from ¥49,980 to ¥59,980, and lifted prices on the original Switch and Switch Lite in Japan the same month.

If you want to buy before the deadline, Amazon currently sells the Switch 2 Choose Your Game bundle for $499.00. It includes your choice of a digital download of Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, or Pokémon Pokopia, plus the console, Joy-Con 2 controllers, dock, and charging cable, all bundled at a savings of up to $29.99 off buying the console and game separately.

The Switch 2 Choose Your Game hardware bundles – Console + Pro Controller ($588.00), Console + Case ($525.99, usually $529.98), and Console + microSD Card ($558.00) – offer, at most, a few dollars of savings. What we don't know is if those accessory prices will go up, too. Buying now locks in today's price for as long as Amazon's stock holds out.
