TECNO teased its Next-Gen Bezelless Concept Phone in July. The device will make its public debut at IFA 2026 in Berlin this week. The company calls it the industry's first phone with a true 0mm display border. I've been using one for a few days, and I can tell you the claim mostly holds up in person.
The bezel really is gone, with one small catch
Every phone you can buy today has a thin black border between the screen and the frame, even the flagships. The circuitry that drives the display needs somewhere to live. That leaves a thin black line, usually 1mm to 2mm, around your content. TECNO says it rebuilt the display's internal stacking and packaging to push the border down to zero, so the picture runs right up to the edges of the phone.

Looking at it straight on, it does. Content goes all the way to the edge, and the screen looks like it's floating in your hand. If you tilt the phone, you can catch a hint of a bezel that makes it look like the display is tucked under the edges, with a small recess. The edges also sit slightly raised over the screen, and you can feel that in use. That didn't matter in my use, though. The effect is impressive, and this sets a bar for where phone screens should be headed.
Do you need zero bezels?
I don't know if I need zero bezels, honestly. Modern flagship bezels are already thin enough that I stopped noticing them years ago. Photos and videos looked great running edge to edge on this phone, and the seamless look is striking every time you wake the screen. The difference between this and a good flagship screen is noticeable, but it's the kind of difference you appreciate rather than the kind you can't live without.

As an engineering feat, though, this is the real deal. TECNO has managed to grab that last millimeter of bezel, and even if it's a bit of nip-and-tuck trickery, it's still impressive. The bottom bezel on the iPhone X did something similar, so that's not a new thing.
A concept for now, but the tech will stay long-term
You won't be able to buy this phone. It's a concept, with no price or launch plans, and TECNO says the technologies developed for it, from the cameras and touch sensitivity to the sound and UI, will feed into its future flagships instead. I'd expect the zero-bezel treatment to show up on a bunch of other phones down the line, just like thin bezels have before.
TECNO sells phones in over 70 markets, though not in the US, so even the eventual production versions will likely stay off American shelves.
