Just months after launching its handheld glasses-free 3D gaming system, Nintendo has drastically cut the price on the 3DS from $249.99 to $169.99. Company president Satoru Iwata had recently admitted that “sales of the 3DS have been weaker than expected since the second week of launch in the US and Europe.”
The move follows the recent addition of Netflix streaming to the platform, and comes a few months before the first games starring Nintendo’s classic characters arrive. Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Kid Icarus: Uprising and Star Fox 64 are all due to ship during the holiday shopping season. These upcoming titles show promise, so if you're tempted to buy a 3DS now, check out our roudup of the best games for the system to date.
