Of the many annoyances of urban living, traffic and the delays it causes tops many people’s lists. Thankfully, turn-by-turn navigation apps help you choose the best and quickest route to your destination. Today's navigation apps can take into account factors such as current road and traffic conditions along possible routes to your destination. And just this week, the Waze app has added another feature perfect for people trying to get where they're going on time: Waze Planned Drives.
With Waze Planned Drives, simply tell the app where you're heading and what day and time you need to be there. The app not only shows you the possible routes but also lets you know what time you need to leave based on real-time conditions. The Google-owned Waze app calculates this by factoring in real-time traffic data, traffic history, traffic condition projections and other data.
Waze Planned Drives can help you manage your time better and more flexibly. For instance, if Waze tells you that you have about a half an hour before you need to leave for your meeting, you could use that remaining time to fit in a quick trip to the grocery store. You can change the point of origin (by default set at your current location) to the place you expect to be when it's time to leave for your final destination.
Use Wave Planned Drives to plan your drives weeks ahead. If you link Waze Planned Drives with your Facebook events and calendar, it can calculate planned drives for your events and remind you when it’s time to leave.
The Planned Drives feature is now available in the Waze app for iOS. It will also be made available for the Waze Android app soon.
